Kingdom:
Overview: Emeraldu is covered with many different colors of the plants and flowers. The climate is warm enough to sustain the plant life with the solar energy it needs, but they also get rain and they irrigate from the nearby lakes and rivers from around the countryside. The gardens and farms over Emeraldu in the vast rolling countryside are fine tourist attractions, and of course everyone comes to see some of their rare forest life, but only with the aide of a guide. Forests are sprinkled over the countryside, mostly near the borders to other kingdoms. Most homes in Emeraldu are stretched over the country, with the Emeraldu Palace in the center of the kingdom, ruled by Queen Akina. The rolling hills and green landscape is well-kept and looks like an ideal farmland, and all farmers make their money with exporting their goods and setting up stands in the many marketplaces.
Fauna: There are animals called bousses, which stand at 6’0", measured from their four legs to their backs. They are dark green with pale green spots all over them and are not only providers of the most common drink, milk, but they are also a good source of meat. Bousses are mainly seen in large herds on the farms, and are not wild animals. A person can also have exciting encounters with the wild junglepointers. They are dogs that are mostly green, black, brown, can be as tall as 3 feet, and some can be other colors to blend in the forest, and can trick people into following them into danger. But if you have them trained, they can keep an eye on your bousses, and also are great guides through the forests littered across the countryside.
Flora: There are many different types of plants, including but not limited to the Never-Agegreen, the Killing Willow, the floratigers, and the opamal fruit. The Never-Agegreen is a large and gnarled tree with dark emerald leaves, a thick trunk, and many branches. No fruit grows on the tree, because this tree stays immature all its life and often makes nasty jokes to passers-by. Then there is the Killing Willow, a medium-sized tree with droopy branches and thin clumps of leaves on the branches. It makes a whimpering noise like someone’s crying to trick explorers into coming over so it can grab them, kill the person, and make them into its fertilizer, so always around the Willows are dead bodies that are decomposing. There are also the floratigers, a creature sculpted from vines and can prey on anything it catches, and that isn’t limited to humans. And then there is the fruit called the opamal, which is a rare delicacy. It is a pale green sphere-shaped fruit, with red hues at the point where the stem meets the body, a thick skin that contains the rich juices, and of course the fruit part inside with the sweet flavor.
People: People in Emeraldu have green hair and green eyes, all in various shades, and their complexions are all tanned from being outside working their land and taking care of their herds most of the day. Since most work on farms, their clothing is casual, comfortable, and durable. But for those that work in the cities, their clothes are a bit more classy and good-looking.
Exports: Its main trades are vegetables, fruits, and rare herbs that are used in many different types of medicines. Most of the herbs used in medicines can only be found in the darkest parts of the forest, so everyone who goes looking for them must take junglepointers they have trained. Some of the more common fruits they export are the chattering-cherries, a type of cherry who makes sounds like chatter when they’re fully mature and are deep red in color, woodberries, deep brown berries that grow only on the Killing Willow trees and are a good source of protein, and the vegetables of gray beans, long beans that grow on vines in gray colors and are rich in vitamins and minerals and firepeas, peas that spit fire when people are trying to pick them, but are rich in flavor and texture and very delicious.
Recreation: The only type of recreation the children get when they’re not working on their farms is swimming in the lakes, racing with their friends over their parents’ fields, and occasionally playing with the tame junglepointers. Since it takes a lot to keep a particularly large farm going, not many children get the chance to play, but when market day comes for their families, they can play a game of Desder, the traditional Emeraldu sport. The team consists of ten players, three Strikers in front, four Defenders in the middle, two Streakers on the sides, and one Guardian in the scoring area to prevent the other team from scoring. A large ball about a foot in diameter is kicked, tossed, run with, and maneuvered in any other way through air or on the ground to score the goal. The Strikers handle the ball, the Defenders guard the area in front of the goal, the Streakers zoom up and down the field to get the ball back to their Strikers, and the Guardian protects the goal area. If you get the ball past the Guardian, it’s worth four points, and if you hit the target above their head, it’s worth ten points.
Advisories: Beware of the wild junglepointers, they will often lead people astray, and never travel through the forest without a guide. Other than that, watch out for the odd bousse, who can sometimes escape from the herd and walk down the streets, because if you damage it in any way, the farmer who owns it will have your hide.
