| Basilisk
By Mon |
"Of
the many fearsome beasts that roam our land, none
is more deadly than the Basilisk. Capable of living
for hundreds of years, instant death awaits any
who meet this giant serpent's eye. Spiders flee
before it and the crowing of the rooster can kill
it."
The Basilisk is the King of Serpents; it has a white
spot on its head which looks like a crown (Like
those seen in Cobras), enormous eyes, green skin
which it sheds like other serpents and it is gigantic
in size. Its venom is very deadly (The tears of
a Phoenix can neutralize it) and its eye can instantly
kill anyone who stares at it (If not directly, the
victim is just petrified and Phoenixes are immune
to it). It is born from a chicken's egg hatched
beneath a toad. They are spider's mortal enemy and
the crowing of rooster is fatal to them.
A
Basilisk can be commanded using Parseltongue, like
the one in the Chamber of Secrets. It only obeys
the true Heir of Salazar Slytherin, Tom Riddle (Maybe
Salazar did something to it to ignore other Parselmouths
like Harry Potter) and when ordered to come out,
it seeks Muggle-born students and preyed upon them
(It can identify them by smelling their blood).
It uses the pipes to get around the castle. When
Fawkes pecked its eyes, it uses its keen sense of
smell to track Harry. It was killed by Harry when
he thrusts Godric Gryffindor's sword on the roof
of its mouth and in doing so, he got accidentally
pierced by its venomous fang which nearly killed
him. |

| Chamber
of Secrets By Craig
and Mon |
The
four greatest witches and wizards of the time: Godric
Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and
Salazar Slytherin founded Hogwarts over a thousand
years ago. The three of them lived in harmony, one
didn’t. Salazar wanted to be more selective
over the students admitted to Hogwarts (He only
wants Purebloods to have the opportunity to learn
magic). When the others disagreed, Salazar left
the school. Legend has it that Salazar built a secret
chamber in the school that could only be opened
when his one true Heir returned. There were many
great witches and wizards who attempted to find
this chamber, none of them succeeded... Except of
course, Salazar's one true Heir...
The
entrance to the chamber is located behind the sink
of the girl's bathroom on the 2nd floor (Marked
by a snake figure etched on its tap). In order to
open it, one must say "open up" in Parseltongue.
The sink will then move revealing a pipe leading
down to the chamber. It is full of bones from small
animals that seem to serve as a food for the monster
within it, a Basilisk. Its sheds of skin was found
by Harry Potter and Ron Weasley when they were on
their way down to the chamber itself.
A huge round door serves as an entrance to the chamber
itself, it can be open by commanding it in Parseltongue...
Upon entering, it'll reveal a huge haven with serpent
statues on each side leading to a gigantic statue
of Salazar Slytherin. The Basilisk comes out of
its mouth when called. Only the one true Heir can
control it and its sole purpose is to complete Salazar's
noble work of purging the school of all Muggle-borns.
The Chamber of Secrets was first opened by Tom Riddle
causing a number of attacks to Muggle-borns in the
school, one of them died... She was Myrtle who happens
to be on the bathroom when Tom called the Basilisk.
Due to this, the headmaster of the school that time,
Armando Dippet decided to close the school. Tom
didn't want this since he has no home to go back
to so he framed Rubeus Hagrid and by doing so, getting
Hagrid expelled and earning him an award for special
service to the school. Knowing that it's no longer
safe to open the chamber again while he was still
in school (Since Albus Dumbledore kept a close watch
on him). He preserved his 16 year old memory to
a diary so he can lead another to continue what
Salazar had started.
Tom's
diary found its way to an innocent first year Gryffindor
student, Ginny Weasley (Thanks to Lucius Malfoy).
She was lead by Tom to opening the chamber again
and because of this Mrs. Norris (Argus Filch's cat),
Colin Creevey (Gryffindor student), Nearly Headless
Nick (Gryffindor house's Ghost), Justin Finch Fletchley
(Hufflepuff student) and Hermione Granger (Gryffindor
student) were petrified.
Harry was able to stop all of this by defeating
the Basilisk in the chamber with the help of Fawkes
(Albus' Phoenix) and the Sorting Hat. The Chamber
of Secrets can no longer serve its purpose... Perhaps
we are wrong... Perhaps there is more to it than
we can see... Who knows, maybe there will be someone
in the future who will finally be able to successfully
finish Salazar Slytherin's noble work! |

| Death
Eaters By Mon
(Source: Harry
Potter Lexicon) |
| They are the few witches and wizards who follow
and support Lord Voldemort. They possess the Dark
Mark (A skull with a Serpent on its mouth like a
tongue) which summons them when they are needed.
In the 1970's, all the Slytherin students at Hogwarts
became Death Eaters. Being one of them means you
are always ready to face the consequences... Like
being caught or killed by the Aurors (Witches and
wizards who deals with the Death Eaters... Brutally,
if needed). The following witches and wizards are
known to be a Death Eater: |
|
| Avery |
|
| Ludovic
"Ludo" Bagman |
| He was suspected of being a Death Eater because
he gave information to Augustus Rookwood who's an
old friend of his father. He claimed in his trial
that he didn't know that Rookwood was a spy for
Lord Voldemort and he was then acquitted. Ludo was
a former Quidditch player for Wimborne Wasps but
now, he is the head of the Department of Games and
Sports. He is a gambler who often use Leprechaun's
gold to pay witches, wizards and few goblins whom
he owed money. He also spent some time hiding from
them. Fred and George Weasley was one of those wizards
who fell for Ludo's tricks so they ended up trying
to figure out how to make him pay up. |
|
| According to HPL:
" Ludo" is a Latin word which means play
while "Bagman" is an English slang which
means one who collects money, as for racketeers. |
|
| Crabbe |
| A huge and dumb Death Eater. It is possible that
he is Vincent Crabbe's father. |
|
| Bartemius
"Barty" Crouch Jr. |
| He became involved with the Death Eaters who
were trying to discover the whereabouts of Lord
Voldemort. They tortured the Longbottoms to get
information and were caught and sent to Azkaban
prison. He was able to escape Azkaban prison with
the help of his mother. Barty used a Polyjuice potion
to disguise himself as Mad-Eye Moody to get Harry
Potter to Voldemort. A Dementor's Kiss was administered
to him. (Go HERE
for a much detailed write-up about Barty) |
|
| Antonin
Dolohov |
| He was caught by the Ministry. |
|
| Goyle |
| A huge and bulky Death Eater. It is possible that
he is Gregory Goyle's father. |
|
| Igor
Karkaroff |
| A former Death Eater who betrayed his comrades
by giving their names in exchange for freedom. He
became the headmaster of Durmstrang Institute but
on 1995, Igor ran away when the Dark Mark on his
arm showed that Lord Voldemort was gaining strength,
since then his whereabouts were unknown. |
|
| Mr.
and Mrs. Lestrange |
|
| Walden
Macnair |
| A former Death Eater who now serve as the executioner
for the Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous
Creatures. |
|
| Lucius
Malfoy |
|
| Mulciber |
| An expert in using the "Imperius" curse. |
|
| According to HPL:
"Mulciber" is another name for the god
Vulcan of Roman mythology. |
|
| Nott |
| A Death Eater. |
|
| According to HPL:
The word "not" has an obvious negative
connotation, which is fitting for a Death Eater. |
|
| Peter
Pettigrew |
Peter was one of James Potter's friends when
they were attending Hogwarts. He betrayed James
by telling their whereabouts to Lord Voldemort,
he was then confronted by Sirius Black but he
manages to frame him for killing some Muggles
caused by a curse he casts. From then on, he disguised
himself as a rat, ending up with the Weasleys
and becoming Ron's pet, Scabbers. He is also known
as Wormtail (Probably because he's an unregistered
Animagi able to turn himself into a rat whose
tail looks like a worm). (Go HERE
for a much detailed write-up about Peter)
|
|
| Augustus
Rookwood |
| A spy in the Ministry working for the Department
of Mysteries. He's an old friend of Ludo and Otto
Bagman's father. |
|
| Evan
Rosier |
|
| Severus
Snape |
|
| Travers |
| A Death Eater responsible for the murder of the
McKinnons. |
|
| Wilkes |
|
| Parseltongue
By Mon |
| It is the language used by all serpents. Wizards
and witches who can speak this are called Parselmouth;
it is an extremely rare talent in which Salazar
Slytherin was famous for... As well as Tom Riddle.
Tom used Parseltongue to command the Basilisk in
the Chamber of Secrets to continue on with Salazar's
noble work. Harry Potter had this talent because
Lord Voldemort unintentionally transferred some
of his power to Harry when he cursed him. Harry
unknowingly used this ability when he talked to
a boa constrictor in a zoo and to the snake conjured
by Draco Malfoy on the Dueling club match using
the spell "Serpensortia". Parseltongue
sounds like a hissing noise to all who can't understand
it but it is a clear language to those gifted to
be a Parselmouth. |
