Family History: The de Vyns are one the oldest native families Europe. While they are the oldest, they have always been liberal and progressive in their political stance and maintain their own family code which makes them believe that they are, ultimately, responsible for their family and that they alone are answerable to no one. Within the family itself, the children always answer to the mother and father or whichever parent had more of a presence in the child/children upbringing. The family’s beginnings are documented from the 11th century with the family founder, Constantius de Vyns, a Celtic wizard of some Germanic extraction (ten generations back). Born in Tintagel c.958, his family moved to Avalon where Constantius found he had a talent for breeding horses, winged and non-winged. He married a Welsh witch at the age 45 and created his surname to honour his recently deceased mother, Devyns, and relocated to Salisbury, he was becoming a widely respected breeder in both Wizarding and Muggle communities. By the time he died in 1158 at the age of 200, he had founded the family castle (1098) on a rather deserted moor, had a sizeable family and amassed enough of a fortune to set up the beginnings of the de Vyns house. Over the years the family branched out from horses and dealt with all sorts of animals, becoming the foremost experts on beasts, both magical and non-magical while other members found careers more suited to their tastes. The family grew over time, weathering the cataclysms and revolutions that the Wizarding and Muggle world went through. Their castle was razed and rebuilt no fewer than 6 times. When it was razed for the 7th time during the 17th century, a manor house was built instead and warded very thoroughly with traps, dungeons (which were rarely used) and every ‘modern’ accruement of the time. Around this time, the name ‘Bran’ became customary and was bestowed on the youngest child. The witch hunts through England proved to be very trying to the family and when three of the de Vyns children were caught and burned without the proper trial by Muggles, the family withdrew from the Muggle world permanently. Only a few months later, the manor house was burnt down under the accusation that the entire family was witches. This actually necessitated the family burning their own house down from within and faking overly dramatic shrieks of pain. Once the charred ruins were cool enough, illusionary charms were cast around the area and construction of the new manor began immediately. The 7th razing of the house was due to the manor housing a large scale battle between two opposing forces. It has stood ever since and was renamed Whytemoor Manor since construction finished in December and the family came back to find their house covered in snow. Many notable de Vyns have contributed to history but the two most remembered is Malforda de Vyns (c.1728), purveyor of the first magical sex shop in England and Hotchkin de Vyns (c.1845), the only referee to suffer the Killing Curse during a Quidditch match.

Personality
Relationships: Sora has an excellent relationship with her father and brothers and is fiercely protective of them. Her relationship with Harry is somewhat tenuous but relatively strong. The relationship between her and Leiko is severely lacking and neither one of them makes an attempt to fix that due to certain elements that neither can agree on, and because of the things Leiko did without Sora’s express permission as it concerned her body. However, Sora still bears a very strong sense of filial duty to Leiko as she is family; that is about the depth and extent of their relationship. With Severus Snape, her godfather, she also has an excellent relationship despite the firm, stern hand that he takes with her. Concerning Draco Malfoy, Sora has always had an excellent relationship with him from the time they were children; this bond was only intensified as Draco came into his Veela Inheritance and Sora’s latent vampire abilities were awakened.
Likes: Misoshiro (miso soup), her pets, books by Wizarding authors Geoffrey Bête and Murasaki Shikibu (contemporary, not to be confused with the Muggle author of the same name who wrote the Tale of Genji), field research, people who are simply honest, mangoes and breadfruit.
Hates: Pretentious people, outright liars, lychee nuts, pilou, being asked the same thing repeatedly, anything that makes something more difficult than it should be, bitten nails, utter slobs.
Qualities: A very meticulous person who’s rather efficient at what they do. If she’s explaining something to someone for the first time, she takes her time, making sure to go over everything in clarity and detail. As well, she is quite gifted at Care of Magical Creatures, Potions and the ukulele; she has learned the basic school subjects from a tutor while she learned the play the ukulele from a Squib while doing field research in Hawaii. As well, she has developed an affinity for cooking as she frequently prepared her own meals when she was out in the field. As she is very close to her family and has an extremely small circle of friends, both of which is scattered around the globe, she is fiercely protective of them and will defend them quite stringently if they are threatened in any manner whatsoever.
Flaws: Sora has a terrible temper when it’s roused fully and will chew out anyone that’s foolish enough to draw her attention to them. It takes her quite a bit to calm down and when she doesn’t its best that she’s left alone for awhile. As well, she can’t help but mother someone when they’re ill; it’s practically an overwhelming compulsion.
Quirks: While Sora is a very meticulous person, she has a tendency to become sloppy when she’s feeling remotely stressed. This tendency disappears once she’s under full pressure or none at all. If she keeps the stress bottled up inside without venting it, she’ll find herself driven to the kitchen to cook, which she will leave in a complete, and utter, mess. As well, if she’s eating food, she prefers to drown it in sauce before eating, unless its sushi or sashimi – she’ll eat it without any at all. As well, she’ll only use a fork to scratch an itch that develops on her back – she keeps one in her room for that express purpose; she claims it’s the only that really gets rid of her itch.
What is her problem?: While Sora can appear quite outgoing and sociable, she’s quite shy and nervous around new people. This nervousness can manifest itself as condescension or snobbery. It takes her a very long time to warm up to people she’s just met.
History
Childhood: Sora had a very energetic and happy childhood. Alexandre raised her, while Kenshin and Daichi were off at school. She wasn’t spoiled but she was never lacking for things she needed. Alexandre started teaching her about beasts and the like from a young age while he hired a tutor to begin her academic studies. When Sora turned 9, Leiko stated spending more time at home in an attempt to better acquaint herself with her daughter. Sora viewed Leiko with curiosity and spent some time with her. The blossoming relationship was cut short when Sora accidentally broke something very valuable of Leiko’s. Leiko dragged Sora down to the dungeons and left her in complete darkness for half a day as punishment. When Alexandre found out he was furious and Sora never really wanted to have anything to do with Leiko from then on. Leiko tried to exercise a greater degree of control over Sora’s life but found it very difficult to actually make anything stick as Sora only paid her lip service and Alexandre never bothered to support her. By the time Sora turned 11, she was completely estranged from her mother from a series of incidents. At this time, Sora’s Hogwarts letter arrived and Alexandre hid it from her, deciding to let her continue with her tutoring. About half a year after Sora turned 14, Leiko performed the ritual to awaken Sora’s latent vampiric abilities. Luckily Severus had anticipated something of this nature happening and brewed a Vimortalis Elixir for her. This suppressed the changes that should have been wrought on her body, though she sometimes exhibits symptoms when she is under momentary stress.
Teenage: Sora’s teenage years were fairly happy as well as stressful. When she turned 13, she started researching magical animals and compiling the information for one book, but fond she had too much on snakes alone, and so she separated it and began compiling for a second book simultaneously. It was when she turned 14 that her latent vampire abilities suddenly manifested themselves and she found herself feeling strange. Turning to Severus, he quickly isolated the problem and brewed yet another suppressant for her. He warned however that her hormones could still overpower the suppressant so she had to be very careful and exert complete control over her emotions to prevent that and suggested Occlumency as a means of achieving that. Sora reluctantly agreed and took half a year off to do just that. At the age of 15, she travelled back to Japan, forced by Leiko who wanted to arrange a good pureblood marriage for her. She and her grandmother conspired to get rid of each one of her suitors. A few days later, Draco arrived and Sora spent most of her time wandering around in Tokyo with him or on the family estate in the guest houses on the other side of the cherry orchard. When Sora turned 15, she snuck into Leiko’s private study to get a book and fell into her mother’s Pensieve. Finding out that she was a Death Eater and some of the atrocities she committed, she bolted from the house and hid out at Malfoy Manor for two weeks. By the time she turned 16, she devoted most of her time to completing her two books and once June came around, she travelled to the Caribbean to complete the research she had, and was accompanied by Draco. A year later her books were published and she did a two-month book tour. It was in August of that same year that she received her Hogwarts letter and opted to attend the school for a year before getting her diploma, as she was a little past the seventh year curriculum. As well, Alexandre asked her to go to the Dursleys house so she could meet her cousin, Harry Potter, for the first time.
